Busy Busy Busy

Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks for me in SL. I've been working my job at VooDoo Lounge as well as picking up two more clubs. I now officially work more hours in SL than I do in my out of the house RL job. I'm not sure what that says about me, but there it is.

I have also purchased my first parcel of land. I'm not sure I like where it's at. I'm surrounded on all sides and have a couple of funny looking strips in it that a group bought to add prims to other land they own. The plus side is that it's mine, ALL MINE!

I have a house put up on it but not much else. I'm so busy working as a host that I don't have much time to do anything else. I may need to cut down on the hours that I'm working. I will admit that I need a little more time for RL work, and maybe some additional fun here and there.

I've sold my first skin creation from scratch. I got rave reviews on it for being pale but not goth. (The first thing that I noticed when I joined was that all the pale skins were corpse looking. I prefer being pale, as that's what I am in RL, so I made sure to create something like that first thing.) I have done a little designing of various things, but due to my SL schedule I just haven't had time to do much of that.

That's about it really. Somehow my SL experience is starting to resemble my RL in that I'm working ALL the time. Well, at least I like what I'm doing... lol.

Make sure to check my updated schedule to the right and come see me at any of my events! I'd love to meet you!

My first day... And oh what a day!

Well, I have officially had my first day as a host, and it was... interesting. Of course, my luck had it that SL would have major issues right during my shift. The start of it was that I couldn't access the tip jars. Ok.... No tips for me today. I can deal with it. No problem. I went to go set up my contest and realized I never got the group credit. Ooookkkkk. So I added my money figuring I could always get it back from the owner later. I lucked out and the DJ reimbursed me for it a few minutes later though.

Then people started getting kicked off the program and couldn't log in. I lucked out and never lost my connection during my shift, but it seemed like it was pretty close quite a bit. I closed the contest towards the end and it didn't pay out. Ok, not good. Those that won were not thrilled. I made a note of the winners and the amounts and let it go. I figured I'd contact the owner later to make sure everyone got their money. If not, I'd pay from my pocket. It's not a lot and I'd rather have happy people that might come back to see (and hopefully tip) me than the L$250 in my pocket.

Then I go to sign out at the end of my shift and I don't get paid!! Now I know that's not a real issue as I am sure the owner will pay me when I get in touch with her. It's just that it seemed to be one thing after another. I couldn't get much of a crowd going because no one could stay on and when they got booted, they couldn't get back on.

Hopefully tomorrow goes better.

Those of you inSL - Friday 8 am - 10 am at the Techno Breakfast @ VooDoo Lounge can enter in the BEST CLUB WEAR contest for a chance at L$250!

Hope to see you there!

Now I have more than one Life!

Well, I've done it again. Found a new computer related addiction.

At the urging of a friend I went ahead and joined Second Life. I'm sure you've heard all the hype and rumors. Various illegal and immoral activities abound every where you turn, right? Wrong!

Yes, there are some of the things that have been talked about, or so I've heard. I've seen some strange things, but I haven't set out to find where the really strange things are.

So far I have found Second Life to be exactly what it claims to be. A virtual life created by the people that live there. It gives you the opportunity to create yourself from the beginning to be exactly who you want to be. You can buy items with their virtual money to change your appearance, clothing, and more. You can buy your own land or rent and put up a dwelling you can furnish with your own virtual belongings.

What intrigues me the most is the ability to create and script your own items that you can then use in the world. Needless to say I have been trying to learn the scripting language as well as what is involved in actually creating the items for the world. (It helps that this would be a fantastic way to earn in game money!)

The best way that I can describe this world is that is is the Sims all grown up without the censor boxes. Even that doesn't do it justice, but it's the closest that comes to mind. It's a world that's limited by the creativity and innovation of the minds that inhabit it.

If anyone is interested in joining me, please feel free to go to Second Life and create an account. Let them know that Merydithe Tepper referred you so I can get credit please. If you want, please feel free to look me up once you log on. I'm always on the lookout for new friends.
